About the Zim Object Dictionary

An application consists chiefly of two things:

• a database that stores the data and information, and

• programs that manipulate the database and that mediate between the end-user and the application.

Before an application program can be used, the objects that the program needs to perform its intended function must be defined. In ANSWER:Zim, object definitions are stored in the Object Dictionary, which is an integral part of the application database.

This section describes how the Object Dictionary is organized and the types of objects that can be defined. Information on how to add definitions to the Object Dictionary, and on how to create and use the various types of objects can be found in your User's Guide.
