The Customize Menu Item Values Dialog

The Customize Menu Item Values dialog can be displayed by clicking on the Customize push button in the Properties section of the Edit Menu Item dialog. This push button is available only if the field Associated Action in the Edit Menu Item dialog has the value "User Defined Toggle" or "User Defined Optional". The dialog consists of one section, Menu Item Values.

Menu Item Values Section

This section presents attributes related to the data types and values associated with "User Defined Toggle" or "User Defined Optional" menu item objects.

Value Type / True/False

This field sets the values associated with the menu item to be a Data Type of "alphanumeric", an Off State Value of "0", an On State Value of "1" and an On State Validation Rule of "1". These are the default settings and correspond to the Zim language system variables $false and $true. In general, the True/False setting is appropriate for most cases. When this field is selected, the Values sub-section is unavailable.

Value Type / Custom

This field enables the data type and state data values for toggle or optional menu items to be customized. If selected, the Values sub-section becomes available and the fields within it can be modified.

Values / Data Type

This field determines the data type associated with the menu item. The available values are "alphanumeric" and "numeric". Refer to Form Field Data Types for a more detailed description of the characteristics of the supported data types.

Values / Off State Value

This field specifies the value associated with the menu item when it is in the "Off" state.

Values / On State Value

This field specifies the default value associated with the menu item when it is in the "On" state.

Values / On State Validation Rule

This field specifies the validation rule for determining if a value assigned to the menu item places it in the "On" state. Any value that passes this validation rule places the menu item in the "On" state. The exception is when an existing "Optional" menu item in the same menu item list is already in the "On" state.
