Relationships

 

A relationship is a data object that defines and establishes an association between entity sets.

 

A relationship may, in addition to expressing an association between entity sets, act as a repository for some portion of the data managed by the application. There are therefore two classes of relationships: those with fields (containing data) and those without.

Establishing a Relationship

Select RELATIONSHIPS from the DATABASE tab, and double click on an existing relationship or right click on the RELATIONSHIP node to define a new relationship.

RelName

Name of the relationship

RelCondition

The relationship expression

RelType

A user-assigned description of the relationship

AvgSize

Approximate size of a relationship with fields

DirName

Application directory location of the relationship

RemoteName

The name of this relationship as known by another database

RemoteOwnerName

The name of the owner of this relationship  in another database

RelPerUser

Indicate whether this relationship  is per user or not

ObjectKey

A unique identifier assigned by the Development Center
